Those travelling from the airport towards the city can see the well-maintained gardens and parks along the tree-lined roads.

After a refreshing breakfast, proceed for a city tour. Begin the tour with Old Delhi, which was the Mughal Capital of Shahjahanabad. Visit Jama Masjid, one of the most imposing mosques of India. It is located amidst the bustle of Chawri Bazar Road. It was built between 1644 and 1658, during Shahjahan’s reign. The mosque has a sprawling court fascinating domes and towering pillars, which makes it the largest religious construction of Islam. Later, proceed to Raj Ghat and drive pass the majestic Red Fort (from outside), which was once the palace of Shahjahan’s capital, Shahjahanabad. Stroll in the busy alleys of Chandni Chowk, popularly called “The Silver Street” and enjoy a ‘Cycle Rickshaw’ ride. Later, proceed for a tour of New Delhi that still has imprints of the British. The division between Old and New Delhi marks the two different capitals of the Mughals and the British respectively. It is also demarcates between the life-styles and traditions of the two area. Old Delhi has glimpses of the past, colours and charms. New Delhi in contrast, has a modern façade living up to the standards of the 21st century. Visit Qutab Minar, which is the tallest stone tower in India and was built by Qutab-ud-Din Aibak and his son-in-law, Iltutmish. The building is around 72.5 m high and has 379 steps from the bottom to the top. This tapering minar is one of the finest Islamic structures in India. Later, head to Humayun’s Tomb, built by the widow of Humayun. It is an unmatchable monument, constructed in an Indo-Persian style. You will also drive past the striking India Gate, the Parliament building and the Rashtrapati Bhawan. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 3: Delhi – Agra (203 KMS)

After a hearty breakfast drive to Agra. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel and relax. Agra has seen several dynasties; from the rule of Afghan King Sikandar Lodhi to the Mughal Emperor Babar and his successors, everyone contributed in making Agra charismatic and charming. It still has a Mughal ambiance with several structures and monuments they made here. Besides being great rulers, they were great builders and adorned the city with some of their best architectural wonders. Visit Taj Mahal, which is one of the greatest masterpiece that stands here. It remains closed on Fridays. It was built by Shah Jahan in memory of his loving wife Mumtaz Mahal, in mid-17th century. It is one of the seven wonders of the world and has intricate marble work on the interiors. Later, visit The Agra Fort, a remarkable example of Mughal architecture. It was the seat of the Mughal Empire and under Shahjahan many impressive quarters and the mosque were added to the structure. See the Hall of Public Audience and its Royal Pavilions. Later, explore Agra’s handicrafts in its bustling markets. Also visit Itmad ud Daula, which is a tomb built in the year 1622 for Ghiyas Beg, father of Empress Noor-Jahan, the wife of Emperor Jahangir. Beautifully conceived in white marble, it preceded the Mughal buildings made with white marble. Overnight stay will be arranged at the hotel.

Day 4: Agra – Jaipur (250 KMS)

After a wholesome breakfast, proceed to Jaipur with a stopover at Fatehpur Sikri. It was built by the Great Mughal Emperor, Akbar. It was designated as his capital in the late 16th century. It is built in red stone and was abandoned soon after it was built, due to drying up of the local wells. It has various extraordinary palaces and mosques that make it a place worth visiting. Later drive to Jaipur. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel. Jaipur, popularly known as the “Pink City “ is the capital of Rajasthan and owes its name and construction to Maharaja Jai Singh II (1699–1744 AD). It was founded in 1727 and is built to symbolize the nine divisions of the universe, through nine rectangular sectors sub-dividing it. Shilpa Shastra was the architect who designed the city. Built by Raja Mansingh, Mirza Raja Jaisingh and Sawai Jaisingh, it is one of the most sought after and magnificent forts of Rajasthan. To reach the fort, one has to undertake a steep ascend and pass the Suraj Pol (Sun Gate) of the fort. The architectural finesse of the palace is praiseworthy, as it showcases a blend of Mughal and Rajasthani architecture. They flaunt sprawling hallways, courtyards, towers, gardens and temples. Located on forested hills, the fort gives beautiful view of the placid waters of the Maotha Lake nearby and also of the entire city. You can even enjoy a ride on elephant back when here (subject to availablility). Amer Fort has been made out of red sandstone and white marble primarily, with interesting frescos and carvings adorning the walls.
