Package Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Hanoi

Upon arriving at Noi Bai International Airport, meet a Yatra representative and transfer to the city centre.

Situated on the banks of the Red River, Hanoi is the capital and one of the most sought-after destinations in Vietnam. The city is adorned with astonishing establishments, which boast of the rich and vibrant heritage of the country. Hanoi is also gifted with several lakes, where locals come to relax and practise martial arts.

If time permits, then you may visit Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple.

Also known as the Lake of the Restored Sword, Hoan Kiem Lake is famous because of the various legends attached to it. Hanoi has many lakes, some of which are even bigger than this one, but owing to its beauty and serenity, Hoan Kiem steals most of the tourist attention.

A major charm to the aforementioned lake is added by Ngoc Son Temple, situated on an islet in the waterbody. The site is also called the Temple of the Jade Mountain and is one of Hanoi’s most astonishing shrines. It is dedicated to Tran Hung Dao, a general who stopped the Mongols from invading Vietnam in the 13th century.

Later, transfer to the railway station and board the train to Lao Cai.

Enjoy a good night's sleep in the comfortable coaches of the train.

Day 2: Hanoi to Lao Cai

Upon arrival at Lao Cai Railway Station, de-board the train and travel to the hill station of Sa Pa.

Established by the French in the early 1900s, Sa Pa is now an emerging holiday destination in Vietnam. This place is located in the northern region of the nation near the Chinese border and is home to various ethnic groups. The most visible feature of the landscape here are its terraced fields that in many ways characterise the farmlands of Southeast Asia.

After reaching this small hill station, enjoy enchanting views of the surrounding verdant hills.

Relish a scrumptious breakfast at a local restaurant, and then stroll in the local market to buy some local wares.

Strolling through the town, you may come across various tribes that inhabit the region. Among them the Red Dzao or Red Dao is the most distinguished and can easily be recognised by their traditional attire. In the afternoon, transfer to the hotel and rest for some time.

Thereafter, embark on a small excursion to Thac Bac Waterfall. Often referred to as Silver Falls, it is a three-stepped waterfall dropping from amidst thickly forested mountains. This picturesque natural formation is a perfect spot to click a few pictures.

After capturing the falling water in your cameras, walk to Ham Rong Mountain. The two main highlights of the mountain are its shape, which resembles the head of a dragon, and the various species of flowers found here.

After this marvellous hiking jaunt, return to the hotel and stay for the night.

Day 3: Sa Pa – Lao Cai – Hanoi

After breakfast, head out and explore some nearby places. Around 15 km from Sa Pa is Lao Chai village, known for its inhabitant tribe, Black Hmong. A visit to the village of Ta Van in the scenic Muong Hoa Valley adds to the charm of this excursion. The road leading up to here is lined with heavily cultivated paddy fields, and higher up tall trees are seen.

Enjoy an appetising lunch here, and then moving through the bamboo forests of the region, reach Giang Ta Chai village. Witness the people of the Red Dzoa tribe indulging in their day-to-day activities here. After this cultural venture, transfer to Lao Cai Railway Station and board the train to Hanoi.

Spend the night in the train.

Day 4: Hanoi to Ha Long Bay - Boat Cruise

After a morning arrival in Hanoi, transfer to the hotel.

Post breakfast, drive to Ha Long Bay to witness the enchanting beauty of the site. On reaching Tuan Chau Marina, check-in and board the cruise boat.

Covering an area of around 434 sq km in the Gulf of Tonkin, this bay has over 1600 small and big islands in various shapes. The diverse flora and fauna, and colourful caves with marvellous formations are the highlights of this UNESCO-listed site.

Thereafter, head to Bai Tu Long Bay by a cruise boat. On board, receive refreshing drinks and a briefing on the upcoming events. After some time, enjoy a buffet lunch, comprising traditional Vietnamese dishes.

On this journey, savour the glimpse of Cam Pha, Oan Lagoon, and port of Hon Gai. Also during the cruise, see some amazing islands like Mat Quy and Am Tich. These islands have gained attention because of their unique structure; one being spooky and the other shaped like a kettle, respectively.

Also, see the floating village of Vung Vieng as you travel on the sea. Use a local rowing boat to sail to the colony, and meet the people of this village.

Post the village tour, participate in either kayaking or swimming. You can also choose to sunbathe on the vessel's deck or receive a rejuvenating massage.

In the evening, the cruise moves to the Ho Dong Tien, its anchorage.

Also known as the Fairy Lake Cave, Ho Dong Tien is one of the most astonishing such formations in the Ha Long Bay. It is famed for its startling stalactites and stalagmites formations, projecting from its roof. Later, after a live Vietnamese cooking demonstration on the sundeck, enjoy a delicious dinner.
You can also enjoy a movie on the deck before heading for a good night’s sleep.

Day 5: Sightseeing - Ha Long Bay to Hanoi

Post an early morning session of Tai Chi followed by breakfast on the deck, relax as the cruise moves towards the marina. While travelling to the destination, pass through some major attractions like the Trong, Me Cung and Trinh Nu Caves.

The wind, blowing through Trong Grotto Cave, makes a unique sound, because of which the site is often called the Drum Cave.

In the centre of Trinh Nu or the Virgin Cave is a limestone structure, looking like a girl. A legend attached to the place says that the rock is the petrified form of a girl, who was exiled by a rich fisherman.

Also, pass through Me Cung Cave, and then marvel at the sight of the Con Coc islet. The former formation has been the site of archaeological studies because of the prehistoric seashells found here. Owing to its frog-like shape, the latter island is also referred to as the Toad islet.

After this, move ahead and reach Sung Sot Cave. Also known as the Surprise Cave, it is located on Bo Hon Island and is one of the widest caverns in the area.

Post exploring this site, get back on board and enjoy a flavoursome brunch.
On reaching Tuan Chau Marina, board a shuttle bus and transfer to the hotel in Hanoi to rest.

Day 6: Departure

Post breakfast, spend some leisurely time at the hotel.

After checking-out from the hotel, transfer to Noi Bai International Airport and board your return flight.
