Climate in Kerala

Kerala is very close to the sea and enjoys pleasant and equable climate throughout the year. Also being close to the Western Ghats, it is blessed with a lot of greenery and the presence of backwaters makes it, even more, beautiful and enticing. It is not called God's own Country without a reason. The weather in Kerala is pleasant for most of the year. If you want to visit this place, you can do it at any time of the year without worrying too much about the weather. The major tourist attractions of Kerala are located in the Highlands of Kerala, which enjoy very pleasant temperature throughout the year.

Normally, the temperature in summer is in the range of 25 to 40 degrees which is very good when compared to other parts of the country. Even though the high temperature reaches to about 40 degrees, it is still very comfortable due to the presence of the Western Ghats which block the dry northern winds from entering the region. Also, the cool breeze from the Arabian Sea blows through Kerala and keeps it cool during summers. During the winter season, the temperature drops to as low as 10 degrees. The normal winter season in Kerala is from November to the middle of February.

The climate in Kerala is blessed in many ways through the Western Ghats, and this reflects in the greenery you see throughout the state. The state receives an average rainfall of nearly 50 cm per year which is very good when compared to other states.  The beautiful lakes of this region usually never go dry and adds a lot of beauty to the entire place. The temperature in rainy season is moderate, and it will be usually humid throughout the day. The Rainy season begins with the month of June and continues till the end of November in most parts of Kerala.
