Climate in Rajasthan

Rajasthan is one of the most beautiful States of the country which attracts millions of tourists from all over the world. Even though it is known for its hot climate, it does not deter travellers from flocking to this place. The weather in Rajasthan is that of a tropical desert climate for the most of the year. The summers are usually scorching and it receives very less rainfall. In fact, it receives one of the lowest rainfalls in the entire country. However, the winter season can be very cold due to the presence of desert.


The temperature in summer can go as high as 45 degrees in the daytime. Surprisingly, the night time temperature drops to about 20 degrees even in summers. Winters are usually very cold and sometimes, it even experiences cold wave for about a week in this season. The temperature can go as low as minus 2 degrees in the winter season. The rainy season will usually have moderate temperature throughout the day with high levels of humidity. When it comes to rainfall, it is very less being a desert area. In some places, the average annual rainfall is less than 10 cm which is one of the lowest in the country. However other regions are fortunate enough to get decent rainfall of nearly 40 cm per annum. You will also be surprised to know that the Aravalli forest area receives nearly 70 cm rainfall and Mount Abu, which is one of the most admired hill stations of this region gets the highest rainfall of approximately 160 cm per year. The rainy season is usually between July and August, and the place receives very less rainfall in other seasons.
