The hardship on the track makes one feel tough to conquer the trek but that only encourages a lot of people to be here.


Switching from flora to fauna, the Blue Penguin Colony holds its position as the second most visited place on the list of New Zealand tourism. It is a limestone quarry near the waterfront, where you can see adorable penguins coming out of their shelter usually during evening. The charges are 10$ without a guide, and 16$ with a guide. The visitors are prohibited to use cameras and are given instructions to dress warmly.


Coming to the architectural beauty of the place, then Cathedral Square is the perfect place to visit. Situated at the heart of the city, Cathedral Square now prevents and cherishes the memories of the 63 metres high Gothic Church, that was brought down by a terrible earthquake in February 2011. The remains include the beautiful stained glass rose windows, that is enough of an evidence to know that how beautiful the church was.
